Keeping safe
The group leaders are committed to keeping everyone safe at The Montessori Play Space and carry out safety checks and risk assessments to help to ensure this. However, in addition, it is vital that everyone gets involved to help keep everyone safe when they are in the group.

The Montessori Play Space holds adequate and appropriate levels of insurance cover.

Prior to the session, group leaders will safety check the room and resources, and notify venue/remove resources if necessary. If safety concerns mean that the group cannot take place, a sign will be displayed/posted on The Montessori Play Space’s Instagram account and all attendees will be emailed.

A list of attending children and parent/carers will be kept based on the online booking information per session.

All parents/carers are responsible for their children at all times at the group.

No child should ever be left unsupervised at the group (parents should not ask group leaders to watch their child while they go to the toilet or leave the room).

Doors and safety gates must be kept securely closed. Should a child be reported as lost, an adult is to remain by any doors ensuring that they remain closed while a search both inside and outside of the venue is carried out.

All fire exits must be kept clear of bags, toys, rubbish, pushchairs and prams.

No children are allowed in the kitchen area.

If you bring any hot drinks to class, please ensure that they are kept in a sealed container and are placed completely out of the reach of children.

All adults are responsible for the safety and wellbeing of all the children at the group – if staff/volunteers see something that is a concern, they must tell a group leader.

Promoting positive behaviour

We ask attendees of The Montessori Play Space classes to behave in a respectful and appropriate manner towards each other at all times. Any disruptive or disrespectful behaviour may result in you being asked to leave the session immediately and may result in future exclusion from our groups and classes.

The Montessori Play space groups are a safe and inclusive space for everyone. We have a zero-tolerance stance on discrimination. Incidents of discrimination will result in entry being refused.
Fire safety and emergency evacuation

Fire exit points are clearly marked within our venues.
​

In the event of a fire evacuation, parents/carers should not stop to gather belongings/pushchairs or prams.

All parents/carers are responsible for their children at all times – no child is to be left unsupervised at the group.

All fire exits should be kept clear of bags, toys, rubbish, pushchairs and prams.

Smoking or vaping is not allowed on the premises of our classes.​
Inclusion
​
The Montessori Play Space is here for the benefit of everyone and we want to ensure that all are made to feel welcome. Parents/carers and children who attend our group will always be treated with dignity and respect regardless of their sex, sexual orientation, marriage or civil partnership status, pregnancy or maternity status, race, culture, religion, age or disability.

We believe that all families and children have the right to be included, and all families should be able to attend our group without fear of harassment or discrimination.

We value, listen to and respect all the families that attend our group and are committed to ensure equity of opportunity and access to the sessions.

All group leaders and parents/carers are to encourage children to use any equipment they wish and not to stereotype.

Where possible, adaptations and reasonable adjustments will be made to access, equipment and routines to enable everyone to participate in the session.

We encourage families to share their culture and religion with us so that we can work together to create a more inclusive and welcoming environment at the group.

Group leaders should be made aware of remarks or actions causing offense to any group members. Bullying, inappropriate or offensive comments are not acceptable and will be challenged in a non-aggressive way, reiterating our policy and the law.
Health and wellbeing

The safety and security of all children attending The Montessori Play Space groups is of paramount importance to us. All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult who must remain with them at all times. We cannot take responsibility for the supervision of children. Children remain the responsibility of their Parent or Carer at all times.

If you or your child have had a sickness bug with vomiting or diarrhoea in the last 48 hours please do not attend the session.

If you or your child have a communicable illness such as chicken pox, measles, hand foot and mouth disease, croup, impetigo etc. We ask that you please do not attend the session in order to prevent the spread of illness to other children and parents/caregivers attending.

Children should be wearing footwear that ensure they do not slip such as shoes or socks with grips on.

We offer many different types of creative activities please do note that children’s clothing may become messy, wet and possibly stained during messy activities or arts and crafts exploration.

Parents/carers must not bring older children to the group who have been sent home from school due to illness

If a child has a food allergy, parents/carers must bring this to the attention of group leaders.
Safeguarding

Every child has the right to be safe and protected from harm and it is everyone’s responsibility to safeguard them. The Montessori Play Space is committed to protecting all children from harm both at the group and in everyday life. ​

We have a responsibility to promote the welfare of all children and young people, to keep them safe and to run our sessions in a way that protects them.

We value, listen to and respect children and young people.

All Staff and volunteers at The Montessori Play Space are DBS Checked.

All parents/carers are responsible for their children at all times whilst at the group.

No child should ever be left unsupervised at the group (parents should not ask group leaders to watch their child while they go to the toilet or leave the room).A register of all attendees will be taken at each group run exclusively by The Montessori Play Space.

If you attend a pop up event we may take photographs of the sessions - Any photographs showing children or adults will have the individual's face blocked out if photos are shared online so that no individual face is visible.

Photography and filming of your own child is allowed during The Montessori Play space sessions. Customers are asked to only photograph and film their own child. Customers should please ensure they take the privacy of other children, parents and staff attending the sessions into consideration when taking photographs or filming. The reason for this is to protect the identity and privacy of other children and families attending the sessions.

If group leaders, parents and carers have a safeguarding concern about any child attending our classes then parents/carers can bring the issue to the attention of the group leaders or report directly to the NSPCC (0808 800 5000)
Data protection

The Montessori Play Space understands and values the importance of protecting people’s privacy and we follow the basic principles of data protection regulations.

At the Montessori Play Space we take our responsibility to look after your personal data seriously. Please see below what data we retain about the parents/carers and children who attend our classes.

When parents/carers and children register for our classes we collect information such as
- The child and parent/carer names
- The ages of the children attending
- The children’s different interests and individual learning and development milestones
- General area of residence
- Email addresses and contact details of families attending the classes.

Why do we collect this information?
We collect details about the children attending classes to ensure that we can provide an appropriate prepared environment to support the different children and families who attend our classes.

Our Website provider or booking service providers will retain your payment details.

We also collect the names of children and parent/carers on class register sheets, photo permissions and accident records.

This data is collected for clear and specific purposes to help in the running of the group and the safety of those attending the sessions.

We ask that parents/carers help to keep this data up to date and let us know of any changes in circumstances.

The data we have is stored securely and once it is no longer needed is destroyed.

We use email and Instagram to help to keep in touch with all of our families.

In the event of a safeguarding concern, we will share information with appropriate partners to ensure children and young people are protected from harm.

Booking Terms & Conditions
​
Please read these terms and conditions before making a booking with The Montessori Play Space groups and classes. By booking with us, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.
​
These terms and conditions were last amended on 22/09/25.
Booking Process
To book a place in any of our groups and classes, please book via our booking system and follow the online booking process. If you require any assistance with the booking process, please contact us at themontessoriplayspace@gmail.com.​

Payment
Payment for our groups must be made in advance through our online booking system. Payment confirms your booking.
​
Cancellations
All bookings are non refundable.
We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule a Group session due to unforeseen circumstances. In such cases, we will inform you as soon as possible via email and offer an alternative date or refund for the session cancelled by The Montessori Play Space.

Refunds
Classes are non refundable in accordance with our cancellation policy

Session Times
The Montessori Play Space classes run at specified times. Classes start and finish at their allocated times.
​

We do not accept any liability for any loss, damage or injury to persons or property arising out of attendance at our Groups except where such loss, damage, or injury is caused by our negligence or breach of these Terms.

Governing Law
These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes arising out of or in connection with them shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
